- Answer: The ancient Olympic Games were held in the ancient Greek city of Olympia, which is also the Games’ namesake. Delphi was the host of the Pythian Games, and Corinth was the host of the Isthmian Games. Rome also held sporting events in ancient times.

- Answer: There are five rings in the Olympic flag: blue, yellow, black, green, and red. The five colors were chosen because they, in addition to the white in the background of the flag, were the colors of all national flags in the competition at the time of the flag’s creation in 1914.

- Answer: Boxing was introduced to the ancient Olympic Games in 688 BCE. Football, sailing, and weightlifting were not events at the ancient Olympics.

- Answer: St. Louis, Missouri, hosted the 1904 Olympic Games. This was the third modern Olympic Games. Los Angeles hosted the 1932 and 1984 Games, and Lake Placid, New York, hosted the Winter Games in 1932 and 1980. Chicago has never hosted the Olympics.
