Albert, 4e duke de Broglie (born June 13, 1821, Paris—died Jan. 19, 1901, Paris) was a French statesman and man of letters who served twice as head of the government during the early crucial years of the Third French Republic but failed to prepare the way for the return of a king. After a brief diplomatic career at Madrid and Rome, Broglie withdrew from public life at the Revolution of 1848. He had already published a translation of the religious system of Leibniz (1846).
