Anne, duc de Joyeuse (born 1561, Joyeuse, France—died October 20, 1587, Coutras, France) was a French nobleman who became a leader of the Roman Catholic extremists opposing the Protestant Huguenots during the 16th-century Wars of Religion. The eldest son of Guillaume, viscount de Joyeuse, Anne when very young was admitted to the royal court, where he carried the title of Marquis d’Arques (after one of his father’s lands).
