Jack Straw (born August 3, 1946, Essex, England) is a British Labour Party politician who held numerous government posts, including home secretary (1997–2001), foreign minister (2001–06), leader of the House of Commons (2006–07), and lord chancellor and secretary of state for justice (2007–10). Straw studied law at the University of Leeds and then received training as a barrister in London at the Inns of Court School of Law (now The City Law School, part of City University London).
