Additional Reading
G. Groen van Prinsterer, Maurice et Barnevelt (1875), remains the classic Dutch biography. The outstanding recent work that assesses Maurice’s contribution to history is Jan den Tex, Oldenbarnevelt, 5 vol. (1960–72; Eng. trans., 2 vol., 1973). Maurice’s involvement in warfare is considered in J.W. Wijn, Het Krijgswezen in den tijd van prins Maurits (1934); and G. Parker, The Army of Flanders and the Spanish Road (1972).
