Negishi Ei-ichi (born July 14, 1935, Xinjing, Manchukuo [now Changchun, China]—died June 6, 2021, Indianapolis, Indiana, U.S.) was a Japanese chemist who was awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize for Chemistry for his work in using palladium as a catalyst in producing organic molecules. He shared the prize with fellow Japanese chemist Suzuki Akira and American chemist Richard F. Heck. Negishi received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tokyo in 1958.
