Tim Russert (born May 7, 1950, Buffalo, New York, U.S.—died June 13, 2008, Washington, D.C.) was an American journalist who, as moderator (1991–2008) of the television program Meet the Press, was one of the most influential political commentators of his day. Russert studied political science at John Carroll University (B.A., 1972) in Ohio before earning a law degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1976. That same year he worked on the successful U.S. Senate campaign of Daniel Patrick Moynihan; he later served as Moynihan’s chief of staff.
