Kerema, minor port on the Gulf of Papua, south-central Papua New Guinea, southwestern Pacific Ocean. Located on Kerema Bay, the town occupies hilly savanna land between the deltas of the Vailala and Lakekamu rivers. Rubber is grown in the surrounding area, and coconuts are raised along the coast southeast of the town. Kerema has a fish-processing factory for barramundi and prawns caught in the gulf. It has an airport and is connected by road with Malalaua to the southeast. Pop. (2000) 5,116.
