Killaloe, town, County Clare, Ireland. It lies on the west bank of the River Shannon, between Mount Bernagh and the Arra Mountains. The town is connected with Ballina, on the opposite bank of the river, by a bridge. St. Flannan’s Cathedral (largely 12th-century; Church of Ireland) occupies the site of the 6th-century church founded by St. Molua. Killaloe is a centre for hunting, fishing, textile industries, and slate quarrying. Pop. (2002) 1,174; (2011) 1,292.
