Langjökull, large ice field, west-central Iceland. Langjökull is 40 miles (64 km) long and 15 miles (24 km) wide and covers an area of 395 square miles (1,025 square km). It rises to 4,757 feet (1,450 metres) above sea level in the centre and feeds several rivers, including the Hvítá and Ölfusá. Haga Lake (Hagavatn) is at the foot of the glacier.
