Laohekou, city, northern Hubei sheng (province), China. It is situated on the east bank of the middle Han River, some 30 miles (50 km) northwest of Xiangfan. Historically, it was a town under the administration of Guanhua county. It was established as a city first in 1948 and again in 1951, but that designation was rescinded in 1952. City status was reestablished in 1979, and in 1983 Guanhua county was merged into the city of Laohekou.
