San Juan de los Morros, city, capital of Guárico estado (state), central Venezuela. It is located on the southern slopes of the central highlands.
San Juan de los Morros was named the state capital in 1934, replacing Calabozo. A health resort, it is known for its natural hot springs. San Juan de los Morros also is a commercial and manufacturing centre, with dairy, food-processing, beverage, footwear, and clothing concerns located there. . A highway leads to the city from Maracay, 35 miles (55 km) to the northwest. Pop. (2001) 95,499; (2011) 115,855.
