Taquari River, river rising in south-central Mato Grosso do Sul estado (state), Brazil, near Alto Araguaia, and flowing in a southwesterly direction for approximately 350 miles (560 km). It crosses the Paraguay floodplain to join the Paraguay River east of Corumbá. In its headstreams diamond washings are found.
