Tarrytown, village in Greenburgh town (township), Westchester county, southeastern New York, U.S. A northern suburb of New York City, it is just northwest of White Plains, where the Hudson River widens to form the Tappan Zee (there bridged by the Governor Thomas E. Dewey Thruway).
