Zillertal Alps, segment of the eastern Alps on the Austrian-Italian border, extending northeastward for 35 miles (56 km) from Brenner Pass and the Ötztal Alps to the Hohe Tauern range. The Ziller River rises in the mountains and flows generally northward to the Inn River. The highest point among the Zillertal’s snow- and glacier-covered peaks is the Hochfeiler (11,516 feet [3,510 metres]). Tourism and winter sports are the main regional activities.
