The absence of long-range order is the defining characteristic of the atomic arrangement in amorphous solids. However, because of the absence in glasses of long parallel rows and flat parallel planes of atoms, it is extremely difficult to determine details of the atomic arrangement with the structure-probing techniques (such as X-ray diffraction) that are so successful for crystals.
