Roberto Baggio, (born Feb. 18, 1967, Caldogno, Italy), Italian football (soccer) player. He played for a number of teams, notably Fiorentina (1985–90), Juventus (1990–95), AC Milan (1995–97), and Bologna (1997–98). In 1993 he was named FIFA’s player of the year. During the championship game of the 1994 World Cup, he missed a penalty kick that sealed the victory for Brazil over Italy. Baggio retired in 2004 as one of his country’s greatest forwards.
