In 1906 the membership and leadership of the Churches of Christ were located mainly in the South, with heaviest concentrations in Tennessee and Texas. The reported membership of 159,658 apparently did not include all who accepted the general position of the Churches of Christ. In the ensuing half-century they grew into the largest of the three Disciples groups.
