Kiangsu Provincial Museum, in Nanking, China, one of the outstanding provincial museums of China. It contains objects reflecting 5,000 years of Chinese culture. The prehistoric section contains objects found during excavations in 1954 and 1956 in Kiangsu Province, including polished stone tools, gray and red geometrically decorated pottery, and jade jewelry. Other items on display include bronzes from the Shang era, fine Han pottery decorated with arabesque designs, models of machines designed by Huang Dao-po for weaving cotton and dating from the early Ming dynasty, objects from two southern T’ang tombs south of Nanking, and excellent examples of handicrafts from ...(100 of 111 words)
