Forest regeneration, following such events as forest clearing by humans or as part of a natural process, results from interactions among diverse groups of organisms and the environment. Depending upon factors such as survivorship, pollination, and seed production and dispersal, different tree species will be represented. Physical factors that can limit plant growth by blocking access to light, water, and nutrients strongly influence the outcome of regeneration.
